Upcoming EVs in India 2026: New Models, Expected Range, Prices and Launch Dates

The Indian EV market is entering an important period in the latter half of 2026, when various new models are anticipated from the SUV, family car and premium segments. Potential buyers will have a lot of reasons to compare these upcoming launch cars before buying any, especially when manufacturers will try to compete by increasing driving ranges and lowering prices.
Models that will be of interest to buyers include the Kia Syros EV, Tata Sierra EV, upcoming seven-seater electric SUV from MG, Honda Elevate EV, upcoming electric SUV models from Mahindra and VinFast’s smaller VF3. The launch schedule, price and specifications of some of these models are not certain at present.
Kia Syros EV
Kia Syros EV is expected to be one of the cheaper new electric SUVs that will be sold in India. The estimated price for it currently stands at about ₹15 lakh to ₹18 lakh, but the actual price will depend on which versions will be available in India.
The Syros EV is expected to have many similarities with Hyundai small electric cars, where it has been speculated that it will have a battery capacity of 42kWh and 49kWh in similar international models, which have WLTP ranges of 300km and 350km respectively.
But the most attractive feature could very well be its positioning, as it can position itself as a step up from cheaper gas cars.
Tata Sierra EV
The launch of the Sierra range has been highly awaited by Tata Motors, and the launch of the Sierra Electric will be crucial for the company’s upcoming plans in the EV segment.
The Sierra EV is likely to come as a range-topper in Tata’s line-up of electric SUVs and is speculated to offer a claimed range that might hover in the vicinity of 500km or beyond, based on the final battery pack size. The price range of the vehicle is expected to be anywhere between ₹20 lakh and ₹30 lakh.
For customers who are looking for something special in the electric SUV category, Sierra Electric may turn out to be one of the most exciting launches of the year.
MG’s New Seven-Seater Electric SUV
One of the most immediate releases of an EV on the horizon is from JSW MG Motor India. This is a new release of their seven-seater SUV in the EV variant set to launch on 26th August 2026. Pre-orders for the product have commenced.
The future SUV is expected to provide 500km plus in claimed range, and it will be the first MG EV built on the company’s ADAPT platform in India. The aim of the car manufacturer is for people that want a spacious family vehicle while still maintaining the features of an electric car.
It is important to note that there is no official announcement yet about the price of the car.
Honda Elevate EV
Another brand that is expected to join the Indian EV SUV market soon is Honda through an EV based on the Elevate name. At the moment, the estimated cost is estimated to be around ₹18 lakh.
The Elevate EV will be of great importance because Honda has not been a dominant force in India’s passenger car electric market.
Details such as battery capacity and certified range should become clearer closer to the official launch.
Mahindra’s Next Electric SUVs
Mahindra is extending its Born Electric family and is projected to launch other cars using its specialized EV platforms. Its lineup of electric cars is already catching eyeballs, whereas new offerings will allow it to diversify across various SUV categories.
One of the Mahindra cars under speculation is the Mahindra XEV 7e, which may come with an expected range of about 450km to 500km and start with a price tag of around ₹30 lakh. The numbers mentioned above are estimates and not India-specs.
The plans of Mahindra become even more critical due to the fact that it targets large and sporty electric SUVs, and not just city-based EVs.
VinFast VF3
On the other hand, the VinFast VF3 might take the alternative route in terms of targeting affordability and compact design. The small electric car will be targeting customers seeking relatively affordable access to the world of electric cars.
At the moment, it is estimated that it will cost ₹10 lakh in India, with a possibility of a late 2026 release.
Should the price remain affordable, the VF3 will appeal to buyers that find electric cars too expensive relative to hatchbacks.
Tata Safari EV
Another electric SUV addition is expected from Tata in the form of an electric Safari. This can prove especially relevant for big families since the Safari EV will be targeting the 3-row SUV category.
At the moment, the Safari EV is estimated to cost ₹32 lakh and have a possible release towards the end of 2026. Nonetheless, the exact battery, range, and release date are yet to be confirmed.
Why 2026 Could Be a Big Year for EV Buyers
The key development here has been that customers are no longer restricted to a few electric hatchbacks and compact SUVs. EVs are now entering bigger family SUVs and premium cars as well as entry-level segment.
Strong competition is also likely during the second half of 2026 when several manufacturers target different price points and target markets.
Longer stated ranges are also becoming increasingly common. This can potentially address one of the major anxieties of first-time EV owners – range anxiety.
Should You Purchase EV Now or Wait?
It really comes down to your budget and needs. If you urgently need a car then there have already been improvements in capability of EVs and not all upcoming models will definitely launch as scheduled.
But if you are specifically interested in buying a bigger SUV, longer range or next generation platform, waiting can be a good idea. There are several key launches scheduled for the upcoming months, which means there will soon be more options available.
What is equally important is not to judge EVs solely by their stated range. Charging network, efficiency, battery warranties, aftersales service, boot space and home charging are just as important factors.

What Buyers Should Check Before Booking
Expected specifications can greatly differ from what was announced initially, including battery capacity, range, model variants and even prices.
So, customers are recommended waiting for official information provided by the manufacturer. For instance, a 500 km range does not guarantee that the car will run 500 km in daily conditions in India.
Moreover, the existence of charging stations in your city and the possibility to get a home charger should be taken into account when you want to switch to EVs.
Conclusion
Thus, the coming models of electric cars in India in 2026 reflect the rapid growth of the electric-car segment in the country. From mini-cars like VinFast VF3 and Kia Syros EV to larger SUVs like Tata Sierra EV, seven-seaters by MG and Tata Safari EV, buyers will have many more options soon.
It is obvious that one tendency dominates: electric cars will stop being urban niche solutions and will become true competition in various segments.
Those customers who plan to buy an EV in 2026 should pay attention to the following few months. New cars bring longer ranges, bigger cabins and different prices which allow Indian customers to make their choice among more variants.
