RMS CET 2026 Registration Begins: Check Eligibility, Important Dates and Application Link

Registration for RMS CET 2026 for Class 6 and 9 admissions in Rashtriya Military Schools for the year 2027-28 has commenced. The registration portal by the National Testing Agency (NTA) was launched on September 23, 2026, and the entrance test date is December 13, 2026.

Rashtriya Military Schools are residential institutions which impart education in the English medium and are run by the Ministry of Defence. These include five institutions in Chail, Ajmer, Dholpur, Belgaum, and Bengaluru. Admissions to Classes 6 and 9 are done based on the Common Entrance Test (CET).

RMS CET 2026 Registration: Important Dates

The RMS CET 2026 online application form filing process started on 23rd September and will continue till October 20, 2026 till 5 PM. Candidates will need to pay their examination fee till 11:50 PM on October 20. NTA has given an additional application period from October 21 to 25 where the candidates have to pay a late application fee of Rs 500.

RMS CET 2026 offline exam is scheduled on December 13, 2026 and it will be held through pen and paper mode.

Who Can Apply for RMS CET 2026?

The admission test is being carried out for students who wish to take admission in Class 6 and Class 9. The eligibility criteria for both these levels are different.

For taking admission in Class 6, candidates must have passed Class 5 or are studying in Class 5 and get the necessary qualification before taking admission in Rashtriya Military School. The current age criteria are 10 to 13 years as of March 31, 2027, with the reported date of birth being April 1, 2014, to March 31, 2017.

For taking admission in Class 9, candidates must have passed Class 8 from government-recognised schools before taking admission in Rashtriya Military School. Students should preferably have adequate knowledge of English as English is the medium of instructions in Rashtriya Military Schools. The age criterion for Class 9 is 13 to 16 years as of March 31, 2027, which falls within the reported date of birth criteria of April 1, 2011, to March 31, 2014.

RMS CET 2026 Application Fee

The examination fee varies based on the candidate’s classification. General, OBC, and OBC-NCL classifications require payment of ₹1,000 each, while SC, ST, and Wards of Armed Forces Personnel Killed in Action classification require payment of ₹750 each.

Parents need to ensure that the classification and supporting particulars are correctly filled out while filling the online application form. Only after verifying the eligibility conditions can the application be submitted.

Once the portal is accessed, candidates will have to choose the RMS CET 2026 application option and make their application credentials. They can fill up the application form with the necessary details and pay the exam fee.

Which Schools Are Included In RMS CET?

The Rashtriya Military School Common Entrance Test 2026 is a means of gaining admission into any of the five Rashtriya Military Schools situated in different parts of India. They include Rashtriya Military School Chail (Himachal Pradesh), Rashtriya Military Schools Ajmer and Dholpur (Rajasthan), and Rashtriya Military Schools Belgaum and Bengaluru (Karnataka).

These are residential schools whose admissions depend on the availability of seats. The schools are affiliated with the CBSE and offer schooling up to class 12.

What Happens After the Entrance Exam?

The fact that one clears the written exam does not in itself make one eligible for admission to the course.
