Kurnool City-Machilipatnam Express Train Schedule
The return train will leave Kurnool City at 9:30 AM and arrive Machilipatnam at 9:35 PM. The train will run on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Route of the New Train
This new rail service would be operating through Vijayawada, linking some very important places from Machilipatnam to Kurnool city. This railway line provides a direct rail link from the coastal area to various towns located in central and western Andhra Pradesh.
The train starts from Machilipatnam and moves towards Gudivada and Vijayawada. Then, from Vijayawada, the train heads towards Narasaraopet, Vinukonda and then moves towards the Markapur and Giddalur area and finally reaches Nandyal, Dhone and Kurnool city.
Important Stops Along the Route
The Railway Department has announced 12 halts in between Machilipatnam and Kurnool City, which include Gudivada, Vijayawada, Narasaraopet, Vinukonda, Donakonda, Markapur Road, Cumbum, Giddalur, Diguvametta, Nandyal, Betamcherla and Dhone.
As a result of this, the service becomes beneficial not only for the passengers journeying between the two terminal cities but also those journeying to intermediate places. It is noteworthy that Vijayawada has been included as one of the stops in this route since it acts as an important junction for further onward journeys.
How Often Will the Train Run?
This implies that the train will run three times a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Similarly, the corresponding train journey from Kurnool to Machilipatnam will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Therefore, there will be a six-day operating cycle in each direction of operation even though there will be no trains running in either direction on Fridays.
Importance of the New Train
The train will increase the connectivity between coastal and interior regions of Andhra Pradesh. As noted by the Railway Ministry, the train will connect Machilipatnam, Vijayawada and Kurnool City among other towns along the railway lines.
According to comments from Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry, the train will be beneficial to those travelling for educational, health and employment purposes.
In case of towns like Nandyal, Giddalur, Markapur Road, Vinukonda and Gudivada, the train can offer additional service options for reaching various locations in the state without having to use connecting trains.
What Makes the Route Significant?
The 499 km long route connects two geographically distinct regions of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Machilipatnam is a significant port city, whereas Kurnool is an important city of the interior of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Hence, the new route becomes more significant in terms of connecting the coastal region with Rayalaseema region.
The significance of the route also increases due to the presence of Vijayawada on the route, as it is one of the important railway junctions of Andhra Pradesh. Thus, passengers can consider using this new train in their journey on other rail routes via Vijayawada railway junction.
Is the Train Already Operating?
Though the Ministry of Railway has sanctioned and scheduled the train, the official press release from the Ministry of Railway does not mention the starting date of the train operation.
Thus, passengers should refer to the Indian Railways latest time table and reservation system in order to confirm the date of train operations.
Conclusion
Machilipatnam-Kurnool City Express will emerge as one of the most significant new railway routes in Andhra Pradesh. Travelling a distance of 499 kilometres and making use of the stations at Vijayawada, the rail route will link Machilipatnam to Kurnool City through twelve commercial stations such as Gudivada, Vijayawada, Narasaraopet, Vinukonda, Markapur Road, Giddalur, and Nandyal.
Operating thrice every week in both directions, the rail route is sure to increase options for commuters from coastal Andhra Pradesh to reach their destination within the state.
