8th Pay Commission Approved: Big Pay Increase for Government Staff

The Union Council, under the auspices of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, agreed to the 8th pay commission on January 16, 2025. This will definitely enable the restructuring of salaries of about 50 lakh central government employees and revision of allowances for 65 lakh pensioners.
Proposed Salary Hikes:
Reports suggest that the fitment factor will hover between 1.92 and 2.86. Under the approval of a fitment factor of 2.86, the following will be the changes in the salaries:
Basic minimum: ₹18,000 to ₹51,480/month.
Minimum pension: ₹9,000 to ₹25,740/month.
