India Exit Taipei Open 2025 After Semi-Final Loss

As India’s campaign in the BWF Taipei Open 2025 came to an end, its 2 young talented shuttlers Ayush Shetty and Unnati Hooda made it to the semi-final stage. Both shuttlers showed promising skills throughout the tournament knocking out top-seeded higher-ranked players to reach the semi-final.
Hooda, who is currently ranked 53, challenged Japan’s top-seeded player and world No. 8, Tomoka Miyazaki. In the match, Hooda led 7-3 in the first game but could not keep it going as Miyazaki came back to take the first game 21-19. In the second game, Miyazaki showed her superiority with a 21-11 win to qualify for the final.

Shetty, who is ranked 44, was faced with a tough semi-final challenge against World No. 7/ local favorite Chou Tien-Chen. Although Shetty showed glimpses of brilliance, he eventually lost the match in straight sets with scores of 21-18, and 21-17. Chou’s experience and crowd support allowed him more effective control during the decisive moments of the match.
Earlier in the tournament Hooda defeated the world No. 65, Hung Yi-Ting while Shetty had wins against the former World No. 1, Kidambi Srikanth and the 7th seed, Brian Yang. Their performances have been positively highlighted as evidence of India’s growing bench strength in badminton.
India may not have left Taipei Open 2025 with silverware but the semi-final finishes of Ayush Shetty and Unnati Hooda showcased many of the underlined reasons for the depth of young talent coming through in Indian badminton, and both players are likely to build on their performances in future international tournaments.
