IMD Issues Regional Weather Advisories for Light Drizzle and Autumn Cool Spells Across North India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is monitoring the weather changes in northern India amid the approach of cool autumn weather in the region. The recent rains and storms witnessed in some parts of northern India have resulted in weather changes, but the forecast shows mainly dry weather in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and adjoining areas.
The weather change is the result of the season change after the withdrawal of southwest monsoon from the whole country on October 15. However, there are no forecasted warnings of rains in the northern plains of India in the coming days.
Recent Rainfall Brings Temperature Fluctuations
Some parts of northern India have seen rain, thunderstorms and gales in the middle of October. The weather pattern occurred in the areas of Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana and adjacent areas providing some respite from the warm weather.
The rain can reduce the temperature of the day. Clear weather after the weather pattern can lead to cooler evenings and early mornings. Such is typical during this period when the changing atmosphere affects temperatures in plains and foothills.
In the Himalayan area, which includes parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, the reduction in temperatures is also leading to cool conditions in high altitudes.
But light showers cannot be regarded as an indicator for a forecast. The possibility of rain depends on the local atmosphere and weather patterns.
IMD Outlook for Punjab, Haryana and Delhi
The latest regional alerts from October 19 show no weather alerts for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi till October 25. Similarly, there are no alert signals for Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir for this period.
The forecast reveals that people in the northern plains can look forward to fairly weather-stable conditions, although there might be some normal variations in temperature and clouds on a daily basis.
Anyone who is involved in outdoor activity, journeying by roads or farming must keep themselves updated with district-wise forecasts since weather conditions may vary in adjacent areas.
Seasonal Changes and Their Impact
The onset of cooler weather in autumn impacts routines and agriculture and energy use. The cool mornings can impact the outdoor working community, students, and motorists, while the changes in weather can impact crop cultivation and irrigation requirements.
Farmers preparing for rabi sowing need to pay attention to soil moisture, rain forecasts, and agricultural advice. For the rest of the community, the preparations can be made for cooler mornings and nights with suitable clothes and time allocation.
Weather changes can have an impact on the air quality in parts of northern India. Changing weather can result in fluctuations in pollution levels depending on wind velocity and other environmental factors.
Keep Track of Weather Reports
While the regional advisories of the IMD continue to be critical for the presence of local rain, storms, strong winds, and temperature changes, it is better not to depend only on viral weather reports or general forecasts for planning.
Even though the recent rains have brought about a significant change in weather in northern India, the present weather forecast looks like it would be mostly dry over the plains.
