EC stops Bollywood actor Sonu Sood from visiting polling booths
Punjab -The Election Commission (EC) has stopped Bollywood actor Sonu Sood from visiting polling stations in the Moga district of Punjab after the commission received complaints that he was influencing voters.
The officials confirmed that Sonu Sood’s car was impounded on Sunday. His sister Malvika Sood is the Congress party’s candidate from Moga. A complaint was filed against Sonu Sood by a supporter of Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Barjinder Singh alias Makhan Brar. The supporter alleged that Sonu Sood influenced voters. However, Sonu Sood denied such allegations.
According to The Tribune, he said, “I am a local resident. I have not asked anyone to vote for any particular candidate or party. I was just visiting our booths set up outside polling stations.” He said that he did not ask anyone to vote for his sister.
Reportedly, District Magistrate Harish Nayyar asked Moga SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) for a report on this matter.
