Dussehra Travel Advisory: TSRTC and APSRTC Deploy Special Buses with Free Travel for Women
Travel Advisory on Dussehra for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh provides some very important information for travelers who will be traveling during the festivities. TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) and APSRTC (Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) will increase the number of buses to handle the rush of passengers. According to APSRTC, there will be a total of 5,261 special buses running between October 16, 2026 to October 25, 2026.
APSRTC Announces 5,261 Special Buses for Dussehra
APSRTC will operate additional services to help passengers travel to their hometowns and return after the celebrations. The special services will connect destinations across Andhra Pradesh, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
The announced allocation includes 1,186 buses for Hyderabad, 475 for Bengaluru, 440 for Visakhapatnam, 347 for Rajahmundry, 247 for Tirupati and 153 for Chennai. Passengers can book available reserved services in advance through APSRTC’s booking channels.
TSRTC Special Bus Services and Travel Arrangements
TSRTC also operates additional services during major festivals to accommodate passengers travelling from Hyderabad and Secunderabad to destinations across Telangana and neighbouring states. The corporation adjusts services according to demand, particularly around major bus stations and high-traffic routes.
Passengers should check the latest TSRTC announcements for confirmed Dussehra special bus schedules, departure points, fares and reservation availability before travelling.
Is Free Bus Travel Available for Women?
Women travelling in Andhra Pradesh can use the state’s Stree Shakti free bus travel scheme, introduced on August 15, 2025. The scheme covers eligible women, girls and transgender residents of Andhra Pradesh with valid identification on specified services, including Pallevelugu, Ultra Pallevelugu, City Ordinary, Metro Express and Express buses. Certain categories, including interstate and non-stop services, are excluded under the published rules.
In Telangana, women should verify the current rules for free travel before boarding. Festival special buses may have different fare conditions from regular services, so passengers should not assume that free travel automatically applies to every additional service.
Travel Tips for Dussehra 2026
Passengers should book early, arrive at boarding points in advance and confirm whether their service requires a reservation. Checking official transport updates can help travellers avoid overcrowding, last-minute changes and confusion over fares.
With Dussehra special buses in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, passengers should confirm route availability and applicable concessions before beginning their festive journey.
