Major Cyber Fraud Busted in Delhi; Four Arrested in Rs 44,000 Fraud Case

Four individuals have been arrested by Delhi Police on suspicion of being involved in an online scam worth Rs.44,000 where bank account details were exchanged. These individuals have been apprehended by the Cyber Police Station, East District after investigating certain suspicious financial transactions that were reported using the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP).
The police have seized five mobile phones from the accused. It is believed that these mobile phones may contain evidence of the crime. This incident shows how bank accounts belonging to many individuals can be used for transferring money involved in online financial scams.
Delhi Cyber Fraud Case: How the Investigation Began
As per the police report, the investigation was initiated based on a complaint made by a man named Vignesh at the Kallakurichi police station in Tamil Nadu, stating that he suffered a monetary loss of ₹44,000 because of online transactions made without his authorization.
The bank accounts were checked along with other complaints lodged in the NCRP in order to establish the flow of the suspected amount. This process led them to a bank account operated by an individual known as Ashwani, who is 24 years old and hails from Trilokpuri in East Delhi.
Police reported that the account received a credit of ₹44,000 on August 2, 2026, and this amount became a part of the cyber fraud case.
Bank Account Sharing Network Uncovered
According to the police, Ashwani allegedly confessed during questioning that he gave away the details of his bank account to his friend Aditya, 24 years old, in return for a certain sum of money that he needed in form of a loan.
Further investigation allegedly revealed that Aditya then gave the account details to Ram Kumar, nicknamed Annu, 22 years old, and then Ram allegedly shared it with Vikrant, nicknamed Vicky, 31 years old, who later on passed them on to someone else in relation to a possible commission.
The police believes that the entire chain of passing on the account details made the process of moving the money in relation to fraud easier.
The four men were arrested on October 23 in connection with a case registered under Section 112(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Five Mobile Phones Seized for Digital Examination
The five mobile phones seized have been subjected to analysis for digital information that may be used in establishing the network of accounts that allegedly shared information.
The police are also analysing the bank statements to trace the flow of money and establish the beneficiary of the fund.
Authorities Warn Against Sharing Bank Details
This particular instance acts as a reminder that giving access to personal bank accounts to others may leave the account holder in serious trouble from both financial and legal perspectives.
People must never give away their banking information, debit card information, personal identification numbers, or one-time passwords to any stranger. In case of any kind of cyber financial fraud, the person must immediately get in touch with his or her bank and also lodge a complaint via the cybercrime helpline number 1930.
