Assam Govt Turns Madrasas Into Regular Schools, Court Approves
The Assam government has turned 600+ Madrasas into regular schools. The Guwahati High Court upheld the decision & the Supreme Court didn’t object to this decision.
Assam’s chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, declared on Thursday that he has shut down 600 madrassas and intends to shut them all down because he favors educational institutions including schools, universities, and institutions.
Sarma asserted that visitors from Bangladesh pose a threat to the civilisation and culture of the northeastern state while addressing a throng for “Shiva Charithe” at Belgavi’s Shivaji Maharaj Garden in the state of Karnataka, which will hold elections in the near future.
“Travelers from Bangladesh put our civilization and culture at risk by coming to Assam. I have shuttered 600 madrassas and intend to close them all because we do not want them. Schools, colleges, and universities are what we desire “Sarma’s words were reported.
The Guwahati High Court has supported the Assam government’s decision to convert madrasas into normal schools.
The High Court’s judgment was appealed to the Supreme Court by a number of madrasa organizations. The Assam government’s plan was not, however, thwarted by the Supreme Court.
In this situation, the Himanta administration decided to transform the madrasas by closing them completely into conventional government-aided schools.
Since the Assam administration thinks that education should be secular, it has decided to convert all madrasas in the state into ordinary schools.
There at time of the decision in 2020, the Assam government said that it paid the majority of the expenses for the establishments that offer madrasa education.
Therefore, the cost of providing certain benefits to any one group is not covered by the government. The declaration and ruling of the state were upheld by the Guwahati High Court.
After the discovery of five “jihadi” units with ties to Bangladeshi terror groups with ties to Al Qaida, Sarma said that Assam had become a hotbed of “jihadi activity” the previous year.
According to intelligence assessments, at least 6 ABT members from Bangladesh entered India unlawfully between 2016 and 2017, according to Sarma. Their goal was to indoctrinate local youths with ‘jihadi’ theology and build terror modules and sleeper cells.
Sarma expressed his disapproval of the Congress during a meeting in Belgavi, claiming that the organization represented the “new Mughals today” and that it showed how the Mughal monarchs ruled Indian history.
“Previously, the ruler of Delhi spoke of demolishing temples; however, today, under PM Modi’s direction, I spoke of building temples.
India as we know it today. Congress is undermining this young India. Congress currently represents the New Mughals “Sarma said.
The chief minister of Assam asserted that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was also an important character in Indian history and charged Congress and Communists with favoring the Mughals during that time.
“Babur, Aurangzeb, and Shahjahan were shown by the Congress and Communists to be the key players in Indian history.
Rather than them, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, also known as Guru Gobind Singh, was the focus of India’s past “said he.
When in power, Aurangzeb allegedly tried to eliminate the “Sanatan” culture and claimed that many people had been forced to convert to Islam.
