CSK Adds Firepower: Urvil Patel Joins After Bedi’s Injury Exit

Going forward in IPL 2025, the Chennai Super Kings selected Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel as their replacement for the injured Vansh Bedi at his base price of INR 30 lakhs. Patel signed up with Chennai Super Kings as their new player at his predetermined INR 30 lakh price after Bedi sustained an ankle ligament tear. The acquired InR 55 lakh purchase from last year’s mega auction had failed to yield a match appearance for Bedi throughout this season at CSK. The inclusion of Urvil Patel to CSK during their difficult campaign happened after they became the first team to miss out on the playoffs.

- A record-equaling 28-ball century against Tripura
- Tournament-leading 29 sixes in just six matches
The IPL debut for Patel follows his previous participation as a member of Gujarat Titans in 2023 yet he does not have IPL caps. The final three games of the season provide the team at Chennai Super Kings with a chance to scout for future talent while fielding both Nikhileshwar Patel and their rookie Ayush Mhatre in the same lineup.
