Squid Game pushed Bridgeton off the top spot to takeover as biggest series on Netflix
Korea – South Korean powerhouse series Squid Game has taken the world by storm as it takes over the number one spot of Netflix’s biggest series by drawing 111 million views in the first month itself. It has pushed ‘Bridgeton’, another popular series, below itself. One of the biggest and most popular streaming giants, Netflix, has announced that the South Korean series has become the biggest launch on its platform by breaking Bridgeton’s record in the first month. The British series was also extremely popular and drew 82 million viewers in the first 28 days.
It is to be noted that the streaming giant only counts a view when anyone watching the episode takes it two minutes before the end. The announcement was made on Wednesday when Netflix’s Vice President in Korea, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand said that the success of the show is ‘beyond our wildest dreams.’
“Today, Squid Game has broken through beyond our wildest dreams,” Minyoung Kim told CNN.
What seemed to have drawn a lot of attention by the viewers was the detailing and the current world situation concerning money. People felt relatable with the characters and loved their acting on the screen.
