PSL Matches Disrupted as Tensions Escalate Between India-Pakistan

The match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Thursday evening at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium came to an abrupt halt due to the military activities prevailing between India and Pakistan.
Pakistan Cricket Board is checking options of venues for the remaining matches, where officials have suggested Karachi, Doha, and Dubai as potential places. A meeting to be held with franchise representatives in emergency mode has been scheduled at the Lahore Gaddafi stadium to discuss plans for contingencies.
Reportedly, foreign players competing in the tournament are in a state of shock with many expressing want to leave Pakistan immediately. The situation has not only cast uncertainty on PSL, but also Pakistan’s upcoming T20i series against Bangladesh.
The tournament disruption occurs in an environment of increased tensions after INDIA launched precision strikes against terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir on MAY 7 TH. This operation was in regards to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam which claimed 27 lives.
Pakistan then tried targeting several military installations in Northern and Western India through drones and missiles. India retaliated in turn on Thursday by engaging air defense systems in Pakistan, neutralizing facilities in Lahore.
The frenetic pace of events has compelled administrators in the cricketing fraternity to take resort to reconsidering security dispositions, in spite of the PCB’s initial assertion that the matches will roll on as per planned.
