Gujarat – Elon Musk and Anand Mahindra took to Twitter to commend and applaud the growing power and talent of Indian techies and their influence in the western world. As Parag Aggarwal recently became the CEO of Twitter, the applauses have not stopped.
Parag Agrawal joined Twitter in October 2011 as a Distinguished Software Engineer after completing his PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University. He stood on with the company since then and has now joined the top brass of the company.
As a young 37-year-old, Mr. Agarwal has made India proud by joining the names of many other Indian-origin CEOs that are manning the show in tech giants the world over. Some of the most well-known names in the world to man top positions include IBM chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, Microsoft chairman, and CEO Satya Nadella, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, and Adobe chairman, president, and CEO Shantanu Narayen.
Anand Mahindra called it a kind of a ‘pandemic which we are proud of. Its an Indian CEO virus,” he said proudly of young Indian manning the show in the West. Musk said, “America benefits greatly from the Indian talent.”
Janna Dogan at Google also applauded the new selection and said on Twitter, “Time to additionally remember that people who were born in India face an immigration policy that asks them to wait for a lifetime to be permanent residents. They thrive regardless.” Agrawal, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, was appointed Twitter CTO on March 8, 2018. He succeeded Adam Messinger, who left the company in December 2016. Agrawal’s appointment was announced internally in October 2017. His early work on the use of artificial intelligence to increase the relevance of tweets on Twitter timelines was well recognised
