Spg Officials Selected Two Puppies From CRIC
The Canine Research and Information Center (CRIC) at Thimmapur in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka was visited by SPG representatives in April of this year.
They chose two puppies for training after expressing a concern in the Mudhol Hound breed.
After taking into account the survival of the Rampur greyhound from Uttar Pradesh and the Rajapalayam dog breed from Tamil Nadu, PM Modi’s security team later confirmed their choice.
Characteristics Of This Desi Dog Breed
The kingdom of Mudhol, whose kings were the first to breed them, is where this breed acquired its name.
These canines can reach a height of 72 centimeters and weigh 20 to 22 kg. They look physically slender with lengthy legs. They have outstanding agility, stamina, a strong sense of smell, and good eyesight.
History of Mudhol Hound Dogs
The Indian National Kennel Club, the nation’s registry for purebred canines, has acknowledged the Mudhol Hound.
The Mudhol Hounds are thought to have been created by Raja Malojirao Ghorpade of the Mudhol kingdom in the Deccan.
During his journey to England, he gave these dogs to King George V as well, which is how the breed earned its name.
These Dogs Have Served In The Indian Forces
These dogs are very watchful because they have long-range vision. Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) taught them to detect explosives for the first time in 2016.
They are also receiving training from the National Security Guard (NSG) to monitor enemy border movements. They will be part of the canine force of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
