Here comes the first blockchain wedding in India as couple takes vows with crypto
Times are surely changing but who would have imagined that the way two people get married may also be modernized to the extent that everything happens digitally. This wedding in India of a Pune-based couple was all but common.
Let us link this wedding to something that has been doing rounds a lot these days–cryptocurrencies and NFT. The two things happen to have grabbed headlines of almost all news portals in the last two or three weeks but this cop took it a notch ahead by bringing them to their wedding.
A first for India, this couple has made waves by organizing a wedding that happens to be a blockchain partnership. The groom Anil Narasipuram announced this on LinkedIn saying, “We also decided to immortalize our union using blockchain technology.”
The couple courted their marriage in November and soon after this, there was a declaration by his wife Shruti Nair who made their marriage “blockchain official”. The couple hosted an unusual ceremony where they hosted their vows while being seated in front of their laptops.
If you are shocked by this then wait for more. Their wedding ceremony was hosted by digital priest’ Anoop Pakki and as for sealing the deal is concerned, they did it with “with an Ethereum smart contract” which, according to the couple, consecrated their commitment to each other with respect to an NFT minted on OpenSea. The couple also made an attempt to create a one-of-a-kind digital token which will be permanently linked to a piece that has the user’s signatures encrypted in it. They used a picture of the bride’s engagement ring with the vows embedded in the image.
