Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal Launches Aviation Startup LAT Aerospace

Deepinder Goyal, founder of Zomato, and former COO Surobhi Das, have come together to start LAT Aerospace, which is an aviation startup that will be working to manufacture ultra low-cost STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) aircraft of capacities ranging between 12 to 24 seats to enhance regional connectivity for the people of India. The investment coming from Goyal here would be pegged at $20 million.
A New Vision for the Future of Flying within the Region
LAT Aerospace proposes a network of ultra-miniature ‘air-stops’ that can be the size of a parking lot- to replace large airports and connect cities directly with small towns by very affordable air travel.
Building an Expertise Bridge
LAT Aerospace is also developing a world-class team of engineers and aviation experts focusing on aircraft design, aerodynamics, composite materials, hybrid propulsion systems, and turbo-machinery at the Delhi NCR. In turn, Goyal called aerospace professionals to join the founding team.
Zomato’s Food Rescue Program is Making an Impact
Meanwhile, Zomato’s Food Rescue Program, which took off in November, is effectively reducing the food wasted due to the cancellation of orders. Goyal stated that this initiative currently saves more than 150,000 meals a month by offering coupons for canceled orders to nearby customers, ensuring fast reselling and not wasting much food.
