There was a road accident involving two motorcycles in Jaipur, Rajasthan. One of them was driven by a 17-year-old boy named Iqbal.
Here’s what happened, Iqbal’s bike accidentally bumped into another bike, which caused him to fall and get hurt. While he was sitting on the sidewalk because of his injuries, a man came and slapped him.
Now, the police say that the people who were there didn’t have any bad intentions. It was just a misunderstanding, and they didn’t mean to harm Iqbal. It was just a moment of confusion.
However, Iqbal’s family believes that he was hurt more seriously than we initially thought. They say that someone hit him on the head with a rod, and this led to his death.
It was reported that this incident made a lot of people very upset, and they started protesting in some parts of Jaipur. They even closed down some shops to show their anger. The police had to send more officers to keep everything under control.
Iqbal’s mother says that her son was very young, just 17 years old, and he was on his way to a family gathering when this happened. She wants the people responsible for her son’s death to be punished. But Iqbal’s family refused to give permission for his post-mortem.
Now, you might be wondering why Hindu organizations are protesting over Iqbal’s death and why Iqbal’s family refused to give permission for a post-mortem.
The CCTV footage clearly showed that it was Iqbal’s mistake when he collided with another bike, causing him to fall and injure himself.
Both parties started fighting, but locals intervened to try and resolve the situation. They urged both of them to go their separate ways, but the other biker left while Iqbal stayed behind.
Iqbal sat on the sidewalk on the road, and there may have been misunderstandings or conflicts between him and the locals. The argument continued, and one of the local individuals struck Iqbal with a rod, resulting in his tragic death.
However, after this incident, it took on a communal dimension, leading to riots. Rioters began attacking shops belonging to Hindus who were not connected to the incident in any way.
The violence escalated, prompting Hindu organizations to intervene and protest against the Rajasthan state government, led by Ashok Gehlot.

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Iqbal’s family for their loss. Such a tragedy should never happen. The Jaipur city administration has also announced compensation of ₹50 lakh, a job, and a dairy booth for Iqbal’s family.
While this cannot bring their son back, it may help his family in their recovery. Nevertheless, it is surprising that Iqbal’s family is denying the request for a post-mortem, as it is essential for seeking justice.
Rajasthani Hindus have been already angered over the killing of tailor Kanhaiya Lal, a few months back, by some Islamists. This Jaipur road rage incident raged their anger again.
The real concern here is that the incident has taken on a communal (Hindu-Muslim) aspect. It remains to be seen whether the Rajasthan government can apprehend the actual culprits who murdered Iqbal and attacked the Hindu’s shops.
