WhatsApp security got updated; It stops stalkers from seeing your last seen
A new WhatsApp security update has been introduced to users. The new privacy measure prevents unknown contacts from seeing a user’s last seen and online status. The app already gives users the option to hide their last seen and online activities from anyone they want or from people who are not on the contact list.
However, the new update will prevent unknown contacts from getting a user’s last seen if they have never chatted with them. The new privacy settings that affect who can see or cannot see a user’s online status are supposed to work automatically unlike the turn-on and turn-off options enabled by the users. Reportedly, some users are now unable to see the last seen of some contacts and business accounts.
As per the report by WABetaInfo, the new update will also protect users from third-party apps from seeing when they are online. There are certain apps that can stalk people’s WhatsApp activities, and the new privacy measures will prevent them from stalking people. Despite the “Nobody” privacy option being enabled, these third-party apps track the activities of the users. Reportedly, they also log them for anyone who wants to keep surveillance on WhatsApp users.
