Vajpayee’s Legacy Will Live On, Says PM Modi
NEW DELHI: On the anniversary of his passing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised BJP icon Atal Bihar Vajpayee and noted that India greatly benefited from his leadership.
He participated in a prayer meeting at “Sadaiv Atal,” the former prime minister’s memorial, alongside President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, numerous members of his Cabinet, and leaders from various parties.
In paying tribute to Vajpayee, Modi stated that he was instrumental in advancing India’s development and bringing it into the twenty-first century in a variety of fields.
He said, “I join the 140 crore people of India in honouring the extraordinary Atal Ji on his Punya Tithi.
In 1996, for 13 days, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was India’s prime minister. From 1998 to 2004, he served two unexpired terms. He is renowned for having made a significant impact on India’s economic development. During his time as prime minister, Pakistan was the target of Operation Vijay, also referred to as the Kargil War.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) first prime minister is credited with expanding the party’s appeal beyond its core and successfully leading a coalition government for six years, during which he promoted reforms and improved infrastructure.

At the age of 93, he passed away in 2018.
