Shrishti Arora Adds to India’s Shooting Medal Haul
Arora’s bronze is India’s fourth shooting medal from the ongoing Asian Para Games, reflecting the growing participation of India in the international paralympic games.
Manish Narwal won a silver medal for India earlier in the day in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 category. The medal also earned a quota place for India in the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.
India had started off its shooting medal collection by performing well in the women’s 10m air rifle SH1 category. In this category, Mona Agarwal won the gold and Avani Lekhara won the silver, thus India bagging both the medals in this event.
Understanding the 10m Air Pistol SH1 Category
Classification SH1 is meant for para-shooters having some specific limitations of their upper or lower limbs but able to handle their weapons independently.
The competition requires a high level of accuracy, concentration, consistency, and ability to work under pressure. It is necessary for the shooters to have control over their breath, position and trigger squeeze when hitting a target located ten metres away from them.
Arora’s result of 214.7 achieved during the final was an indicator of her readiness to participate in competitions with the world’s leading shooters.
