Putin’s Upcoming India Visit Confirmed by Kremlin
Moscow and New Delhi are “working on the dates” for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to India, the Kremlin announced Monday. The visit which is anticipated to take place early next year will be a part of an agreement established between the two nations for their presidents to visit each other annually.
Dmitry Peskov who is the spokesperson for the Kremlin stated without providing details on the visit’s schedule, “We are looking forward to the visit. The dates will be mutually worked out soon.”
During his visit, President Putin will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The two leaders had last met in late October when PM Modi travelled to Kazan, Russia for the BRICS Summit. PM Modi had invited President Putin to come to India during the visit.
Referring to the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Prime Minister Modi told President Vladimir Putin during their most recent meeting that India supports peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
“We have been in touch with all sides in the Russia-Ukraine problem. It has always been our position that all conflict can be solved with dialogue. We believe there should be peaceful solutions to conflicts. India is always ready to help bring peace,” PM Modi had said.
India and Russia have a long-standing “special and privileged strategic partnership” and Prime Minister Modi has stated that New Delhi will do everything in its power to put an end to the conflict and find a peaceful settlement that both Russia and Ukraine can agree upon.
According to reports PM Modi even shipped Ajit Doval, the national security adviser to Moscow with a peace plan so he could meet with Vladimir Putin.
Russia and India have close bilateral relations and the trade between the two countries continues to grow even in spite of the war in Ukraine.
