Punjab Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana: Monthly Financial Assistance Transferred via DBT

The Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana has emerged as a significant women welfare scheme in Punjab, as the state government has started transferring financial aid directly into eligible beneficiaries’ bank accounts using the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme.
The scheme was officially launched on July 1, 2026, where the first installment included three months paid together. For the Scheduled Caste women, the amount transferred was ₹4,500, which was ₹1,500 per month for the three months, whereas, for the remaining categories, it was ₹3,000, which was ₹1,000 per month for the three months.
This scheme has been announced in the budget of Punjab for 2026-27 and is intended to provide financial aid periodically to adult women. The government has estimated that a vast majority of Punjab’s adult women would be covered under this scheme.
What Is the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana?
The Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana is also known as the Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, which is a monetary scheme of the Government of Punjab for women.
According to the scheme, eligible women from general and other categories are to receive ₹1,000 per month and eligible women from Scheduled Caste categories are to receive ₹1,500 per month. The funds are to be directly credited to the bank account of the beneficiary under DBT.
This is a scheme of regular financial assistance and is being rolled out through a procedure of registration and verification of the applicants locally.
How Much Money Will Women Receive?
As stated before, the amount of assistance varies according to the beneficiary’s category. Women from the general and other eligible categories will get ₹1,000 every month and women from the Scheduled Caste category will get ₹1,500 every month.
However, the first instalment was exceptional since the Punjab Government provided three months’ worth of assistance at one go when the scheme was introduced. Thus, women from the general category were getting ₹3,000 whereas those from the Scheduled Caste category were getting ₹4,500.
How Does DBT Work Under the Scheme?
The financial assistance would be credited directly into the registered beneficiary’s bank account using the Direct Benefit Transfer system.
Under this process, the beneficiary no longer has to go to the government office and collect cash after verifying and being approved for the application form. It simply means that the cash benefit will be electronically credited to the bank account linked to the beneficiary’s registration.
The system is supposed to streamline payment and eliminate reliance on intermediaries. For instance, in Kapurthala, the government claimed that ₹17.34 crore had already been credited directly to 49,039 eligible beneficiaries by July 6, 2026.
Who Is Eligible to Apply for the Scheme?
It is targeted at female adults who satisfy the eligibility criteria of the Punjab government. From the information provided in the registration process, it is required that the applicant should be a woman 18 years old and above residing in Punjab.
It is also important to note that there will be verification of the applicant’s details before releasing any financial assistance. Due to the decentralized nature of the implementation process, applicants should consult the guidelines from the respective districts.
How Can Women Register?
The registration process is made possible via local government-related channels. Women can visit Suvidha or Sewa Kendras and Anganwadi Centres to register and seek help with filing the required information. In some places, district administration has been using the services of local workers and registration centers to help eligible women with the registration process.
Registration help has also been available from local workers and camps in some regions. This would particularly apply to women who might not feel comfortable with filling out digital applications.
What Happens After Registration?
Registration does not always mean that the payment has been made to the woman’s account already. The applications have to go through a process of verification before a woman can qualify for the payment.
According to district authorities, beneficiaries whose applications are verified and approved receive the financial assistance through DBT. If the process of verification is still on, the payment will be made to the beneficiaries after the application is processed.
That is why if a woman has registered but has not got the payment yet, she must see whether her application and bank details are verified.
What If the Money Has Not Arrived?
Any lady who feels she is eligible and yet has not received the payment needs to confirm her registration status and bank details with the respective local government authority or at the registration center.
The district administration may also help in confirming the status of verification and any further details needed regarding the same. According to reports from Kapurthala, the payments are released in phases depending on the verification process of applications.
They should also ensure that their bank details registered at the time of registration are correct and the account qualifies to receive payments through DBT.
Why the Scheme is Important
The size of the scheme makes it a significant part of Punjab’s social welfare program. The state government had planned to spend considerable amounts of money on the scheme and expected to cover a large number of women in Punjab.
The adoption of the DBT scheme makes it a financial assistance scheme. This means that, if implemented successfully, the beneficiaries will receive the assistance directly to their bank accounts after the verification process.
What Beneficiaries Should Keep Ready
Women who would like to join the scheme need to ensure that all their personal as well as residential data are correct and the bank account details provided while registering are correct too. Given that the registration and verification are now being facilitated by Suvidha/Sewa Kendras and Anganwadi Centres, those who are interested may visit these centers if they require any help in doing so.
It is equally important to get information from the official sources of the government/district about any modification of the criteria, documentation requirements, payment schedule, and the entire registration procedure.
Conclusion
Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana offers recurring financial assistance of ₹1,000 every month to eligible women and ₹1,500 per month to eligible SC women. The financial assistance is now being offered to women through DBT where the first three months’ payment has been made at the time of the launch of the scheme in July 2017.
Women who have not received the financial assistance will find registration and verification very critical. Suvidha/Sewa Kendras and Anganwadi Centers are some of the channels that have been made use of for registration.
