OYO Receives 4.5 Lakhs Record Booking On New Year’s Eve
The Indian TravelTech company Oyo witnessed 4.5 lakhs bookings during the new year celebrations. The UP state got maximum tourists in 2022.
According to founder and group CEO Ritesh Agarwal, OYO, a travel technology company, saw more than 4.5 lakh bookings on New Year’s Eve, the company’s largest bookings per hotel for India in the previous five years.
The CEO of OYO discussed the “busiest day of the year” for the travel tech company in a series of tweets, noting that Varanasi had more bookings than Goa.
“This New Year’s Eve saw almost 450k bookings globally. Compared to last year, this is up 35%.
In addition, this is the day with the most hotel reservations per day for India in the last five years #CheckIn2023, OYO founder Ritesh Agarwal tweeted.
There was a significant increase in traveling and tourism in 2022. While corporate and cultural travel have greatly boosted the sector in India, leisure travel has been driving the travel recovery trend globally.
“Goa bookings are increasing by the hour. But can you guess which city is catching up to Goa? In a tweet, Agarwal mentioned Varanasi.
He also provided data from OYO’s annual travel trends index Travelopedia 2022, which revealed that, according to PTI reports, small towns are experiencing the largest growth in bookings.
In 2022, Uttar Pradesh overtook California as the state with the most visitors, per OYO data.
The largest increase in bookings was seen in smaller towns and cities including Hathras, Srinagar in Uttarakhand, Sasaram, Karaikudi, and Tenali in 2022 as compared to 2021.
According to Agarwal, who was speaking about the general increase in activity on New Year’s Eve, “about 1M (million) individuals were trying to book on OYO’s app & website. A total of 12.7 million price modifications have been made on the OYO app.
