Over 400 Flights Delayed Due to Dense Fog at Delhi Airport

For the second day in a row, low visibility caused by heavy fog affected operations at Delhi airport on Saturday resulting in 19 flight diversions, numerous cancellations and more than 400 flight delays. Due to poor visibility, 19 flights were rerouted at the airport between 12.15 and 1.30 in the morning, according to an official. There were two non-scheduled flights, four overseas flights and thirteen domestic flights.
According to the official, poor weather caused more than 45 flights to be canceled in Delhi and at the destination airports. More than 400 flights experienced delays at the Delhi airport, according to data from the flight monitoring website Flightradar24.com.
Early in the morning, IndiGo, the biggest airline in the nation temporarily halted arrivals and departures at the airport. In a 1.16 am update on X, Air India stated that flight operations in Delhi and several areas of northern India were being impacted by low visibility brought on by heavy fog.
Delhi was also hit by a dense fog on Friday which caused over 400 flights to be delayed. Even during the day, visibility in Delhi, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Srinagar, Guwahati and Patna was still hampered by strong fog, according to an IndiGo update on X at 10.58 am.
