NYT Connections #717: Hints, Categories & Answers for May 28, 2025

In the morning, The New York Times’ puzzle Connections draws in word game enthusiasts from across the world with its daily mental exercise. As with Wordle, Connections is reset daily at midnight and seeks out the link between four-word groups on a 16-word grid. Many people have recently become interested in it because of its logical, vocabulary and deductive nature. For anyone having trouble with today’s Connections puzzle (#717), we’ve got hints that will help — and ultimately the final answers — all while leaving some mystery.
What Is NYT Connections and How Does It Work?
Connections is a daily puzzle presented by The New York Times, the brainchild of associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu. You can play the game on browsers or mobile devices, as it shows 16 words that you have to organize into four sets of four words. Every group has a matching theme that is shared, whether it’s based on film titles, different parts of a machine or puns.
Each set is color-coded by difficulty:
- Yellow: Easiest
- Green: Moderate
- Blue: Hard
- Purple: Most challenging
Players can rearrange words, shuffle tiles, and make up to four mistakes. Like Wordle, scores can be shared, making it a social media favorite.
