New Delhi disapproves Territory amendment of Nepal map
Nepal is all set to establish a new map where it wishes to will include Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura. These seemed to regions that Nepal claims to be with it while they have been in Indian region.
The Kalapani region comes under Uttrakhand region, while Lipulekh acts as a Himalayan pass on the border between the state of Uttarakhand.
The PM of Nepal is now going to submit a constitutional amendment bill at the special sitting of the Parliament’s lower court house. Once the bill is passed, the regions maybe seen as a part of the Nepal map. Speaking over the issue, the Army chief General MM Naravane said that India continues to share very good ties with Nepal. On sidelines is Nepal PM K.P. Sharma Oli’s eagerness to get the bill passed and siding with the Chinese side to win brownie points over claim to the Lipulekh Pass.
He has shown extreme eagerness by calling for a special Parliament session on Saturday which is considered a weekly off in Nepal. Even then, there is support for the bill in parliament where as many as 83 lawmakers have already discussed the legislation to incorporate the new map in Nepal’s national emblem. Lawmakers have been given 72 hours to move amendments to the constitution amendment bill before the lower house votes on it. The 72-hour period already ended Friday evening. Meanwhile, New Delhi has no intentions of accepting the amendment in the Nepalese map. It has Delhi promptly rejected the map, calling it a “unilateral act” that was not based on historical facts or evidence.
