Mumbai Airport Suspends Flight Operations on May 9: Here’s the Reason and Time of Shutdown

The Flight services from Mumbai International Airport on 9 May will be suspended for six hours. One of the most busiest airports in the world, the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSMIA) officially announced the news.
Reports from Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) confirms the news to Notice to Airmen that the runway will be closed on 9 May for pre-monsoon runway maintenance activities. The notice was announced six months ago for the airlines and the authorities to schedule and allocate the time and arrangements.

The maintenance will take place in both the runways (09/27 and 14/32) from 11 am to 5 pm, and no flights will be able to use the runways during that time. As a part of India’s yearly Pre- monsoon checkup, experts will check for any damage on the runway surfaces and take steps to prevent water from collecting there, which helps keep flights safe during the rainy season.
