Miss Universe 2021: India’s Harnaaz Sandhu brings home the title after 21 years

Israel -Miss India Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu has been crowned the next Miss Universe of the 70th edition of the Miss Universe pageant on Sunday in Eilat, Israel. She was crowned by the former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, Andrea Meza. Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira claimed second place while Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane claimed third place. Now, Sandhu will reside in New York and participate in a number of events globally. Various celebrities have congratulated her on social media including Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta.
Harnaaz Sandhu brought home the Miss Universe title after 21 years. Before her, only two Indian women have won the title of Miss Universe. Sushmita Sen won the title in 1994 while Lara Dutta won in 2000. However, Sandhu is the first Sikh to be crowned Miss Universe title.
In the final round, she was asked what advice she would give to young women watching on how to deal with the pressures they face today? She answered that pressures women face today are not believing in themselves and that they should understand that their uniqueness makes them beautiful.

Harnaaz Sandhu had earlier won the ‘Miss Diva Universe’ title in 2021. The title asphalted her way to the Miss Universe 2021 pageant. Earlier, she also won titles like Femina Miss India 2019, Miss India Punjab, Miss Glamorous Look, and Miss Glowing Skin.
Her recent tweet reads, “India, tonight we will shine!” Before representing India in the pageant, She wrote on Twitter, “I feel very fortunate to represent my beloved country, have no doubt that I will do my best to get the crown in India.”

She is a 21 years old girl who hails from Punjab, India. She was born on 3 March 2000 in Chandigarh to a Sikh family. She did her schooling at Shivalik Public School in Chandigarh. Reportedly, she is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Public Administration.
