Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer relayed on Sunday that wicket-keeper and batsman Rishabh Pant is expected to sit out for at least a week due to hamstring injury he recently suffered on Friday in a match against Rajasthan Royals.
On Sunday, Delhi Capitals lost a critical match against defending champions Mumbai Indians by five wickets, thereby losing its top spot in the table. In this match Pant was replaced by Australia’s Alex Carey in the playing eleven.
In the Sunday’s post-match presentation Iyer said, “We have no idea on Rishabh’s availability, the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong.”
DC opted to bat and made a competitive score of 162 for four and MI was able to successfully chase down the score with two balls remaining.
Iyer said, “Definitely, I would say 10-15 short, 170-175 on the board would have looked completely different. We really missed out when Stoinis got out, he was hitting the ball really well and also seeing the ball like a football, that was the main error that we did and something that we really need to work on.” He added, “Apart from that the effort we put on the field, we could definitely work on that as there were few misfields and dropped catches as well. Overall they outplayed us in all the departments. We need to work on our mindsets before the next game.”
