IndiaAI Announces Fellowships Worth Up to Rs 2 Lakh for Students; Applications Open Till November 30
IndiaAI Fellowship 2026-27 has been announced by MeitY and the application process for the same is ongoing. Students at the postgraduate level working on research related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be provided up to Rs 2 lakh under this initiative, whereas the undergraduate and IDD students will be eligible for an amount of up to Rs 1 lakh.
The IndiaAI Mission has launched this initiative to motivate the students to create innovative solutions using AI.
IndiaAI Fellowship 2026–27: Financial Benefits
The fellowship offers monetary help based on students’ educational levels. Undergraduate and IDD students who are eligible to apply for the scholarship are offered up to Rs 1 lakh, while the postgraduate students who are eligible can be given up to Rs 2 lakhs depending on the semester in which they join the program.
The eligible PhD researchers may also be able to get financial assistance of between Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000 per month, along with a research grant of Rs 2 lakhs every year.
Students whose research papers in AI are accepted in international conferences are also provided with an extra grant of up to Rs 1 lakh only once.
Who Can Apply for the Fellowship?
The program is available to all eligible Indians studying in various undergraduate programs (including Integrated Dual Degree and post-graduate programs). Eligibility criteria for undergraduate applicants are based on the length of their study program as well as semesters. Undergraduate applicants enrolled in a three year-long program are eligible to apply from the fifth semester whereas four-year students from the seventh semester onwards. IDD students enrolled in a five-year program become eligible from the ninth semester.
Postgraduate applicants in the first, second and third semesters may also be eligible. Applicants are required to fulfill the set criteria in terms of academic merit and research on AI.
How to Apply for IndiaAI Fellowship 2026?
Candidates who qualify for the fellowship will be able to go through the IndiaAI Fellowship official website located on fellowship.indiaai.gov.in to access the details and undertake the application process.
It is important for candidates to ensure that the qualifications and supporting documents satisfy the stipulated requirements of the fellowship.
As the deadline draws near, candidates who are eligible for the fellowship in AI should go through the requirements and submit applications within the stipulated time.
