HMD Vibe2 5G Launched in India as First Smartphone With Indus by Sarvam AI, 6000mAh Battery, and Android 16: Price, Features

HMD has launched the HMD Vibe2 5G in India, aiming at the budget 5G phone market with an emphasis on AI and battery capacity.
The phone has been marketed as the first phone to come preloaded with “Indus by Sarvam AI,” which is described as an AI solution made especially for India with its multilingual and voice-based features. Furthermore, the phone is shipped with Android 16 and has a whopping 6000mAh battery.
This clearly reflects HMD’s increasing efforts at designing affordable and AI-powered phones for Indians.
What Makes the HMD Vibe2 5G Different?
Another major selling point for the HMD Vibe2 5G lies in its compatibility with “Indus by Sarvam AI.”
According to reports, the artificial intelligence system is capable of handling interactions in 22 different Indian languages and has been created with Indian voice-based and multi-lingual use cases in mind. During the launch event, Sarvam AI revealed that the HMD smartphone employs the Sarvam-105B AI technology model with all data stored within India.
This means the Vibe2 5G can be considered one of the first budget phones to feature such an AI system within India.
HMD Vibe2 5G Price in India
The base price of the HMD Vibe2 5G model comes at ₹10,999 for the configuration with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.
The 4GB RAM & 128GB internal storage model will retail for ₹11,999. There are reports that special offers worth ₹1,500 could be announced on launch day through certain payment gateways.
Availability of the smartphone will begin from May 26th onwards from the websites of Flipkart & HMD Global
Display and Design Features
It comes with a 6.7 inches HD+ LCD screen and has a 120Hz refresh rate. This Nokia phone has been designed to be eye-catching and vibrant, with a combination of three colors, namely Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue, and Peach Pink.
It also has an aesthetic rear housing that houses the camera cluster in addition to the fingerprint sensor. This is especially important for budget consumers who want something more upscale. Additionally, the phone offers IP64 waterproof rating and still retains the 3.5mm audio jack.
Performance and Software
The HMD Vibe2 5G has the Unisoc T8200 5G chipset that employs a 6nm process node technology.
It features a 4GB LPDDR4X RAM with a storage capacity of 128GB that can be further expanded. The device ships with an OS of Android 16 installed, becoming one of the earliest low-cost smartphones that have the latest Android pre-installed.
HMD promises the delivery of security patches every quarter for two years.
Massive 6000mAh Battery
Another important selling point of this phone is its battery capacity.
It comes equipped with a battery size of 6000 mAh, along with 18W fast charging support, which HMD is providing inside the box.
For those who are using budget smartphones in India, large batteries have always been an important factor, owing to activities such as gaming, streaming content, and intensive mobile data use.
The software as well as the hardware configuration may make it possible for this device to perform well in terms of battery life.
Camera Setup
Regarding the camera aspect, the new phone boasts a rear 50MP AI-based camera array alongside an 8MP front camera for selfies.
Although it cannot be labeled as a camera-focused flagship phone, HMD Global seems to have concentrated on providing decent social media photography experience for this category.
Why the Sarvam AI Partnership Matters
Integration of Indus by Sarvam AI could be one of the most significant aspects of this release.
The Indian market for smartphones is getting geared up to provide localized versions of AI-powered assistants in place of global ones. The advantage of communicating in several Indian languages can prove particularly useful for users buying their first smartphone in regional languages.
Sarvam AI has been marketing itself as an independent Indian AI ecosystem with a focus on multilinguism and hosting local data.
Thus, Vibe2 5G goes beyond being just another cheap smartphone release and heralds the beginning of localization in the affordable smartphone segment of India’s market with respect to AI-powered assistants.
