Google Announces To Shut Down Its Street View App In 2023
Google’s Street View App allows users to view or watch 360-degree photos or clips of different locations. Google is going to shut it down till March 2023.
Google has a history for delaying projects or, worse yet, entirely killing them off. There is a website devoted to tracking these instances because it has happened so frequently for the company.
Now, if a close examination of a recent software upgrade is accurate, the specialized Street View app may be discontinued in 2023.
The data was discovered in the most recent update, version 220.127.116.114371618, of the Street View app, which is accessible through the Google Play Store, according to the people at 9to5Google.
According to the recently discovered warning, the Street View app will be discontinued on March 21, 2023.
The caution advises users to submit future 360-degree videos using the Street View Studio computer software.
Additionally, it appears from the exposed data that Photo Paths is also on its way out.
Users could upload pictures of less visited places using this function. Unfortunately, there won’t be a substitute for this functionality.
If you’ve never heard of the Street View app, you might be curious about what it is and what it can accomplish.
For individuals who are interested in exploring the world of 360-degree images and videos of destinations, there is an app called Street View.
Users can also participate by taking and submitting their own 360-degree photos using the app.
Don’t worry if you were concerned that Street View will disappear from Google Maps; this only affects the dedicated app.
Of all, all of this information was discovered through dissecting a recent software update, so anything is possible.
But if this is the case, it would be a very sad ending for a fantastic program, particularly given that Google just just marked 15 years of Street View.
Thankfully, the function will continue to exist in Google Maps in some capacity, and new methods are being employed to capture more of the planet, including locations that were previously impossible.
Before it disappears completely, you may still install the app and give it a shot if you’re interested.
