Chennai Family Suicide: Debt May Have Played a Role
A family of four was found dead this morning in their home at Anna Nagar. The family consisted of a doctor, his wife, and their two sons. Police suspect the family took their own lives because of heavy financial debt.
Dr. Balamurugan a sonologist who ran several ultrasound centers in Chennai, was 52 years old. His wife, Sumathy, worked as an advocate and was 47. Their eldest son, Jaswant Kumar, was a NEET aspirant. Their younger son, Lingesh Kumar, was a Class 11 student. The family was found in two different rooms, with each member hanging from a ceiling.
The tragedy was discovered when the doctor’s driver arrived at the house early this morning. He did not receive any response and immediately reported the situation to the police. When the police arrived, they found the lifeless bodies of all four family members.
A police officer stated, “We suspect they killed themselves. They were in debt. We are investigating.” It is known that Dr. Balamurugan was under huge financial pressure. However, it is not clear if the family left a suicide note or if money lenders had been pressuring them. No formal complaint has been received from anyone so far.
The case is still under investigation. Police are looking into the details to understand what led this family to such a tragic decision. They hope to find answers soon.
