BJP Is Our Biggest Enemy; TMC Will Fight 2024 Lok Sabha Polls In UP: Mamata Banerjee
Ahead of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh (UP) election, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is her “main enemy.”
Banerjee said that all political parties should come together to oust the ruling BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. She announced on Wednesday that her party will contest the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, and other states in 2024.
According to PTI, while addressing a party meeting in Kolkata, she said, “Our motto is that the BJP has to be defeated. If we can defeat CPI(M) in West Bengal, we can also defeat BJP nationally.”
She targeted BJP leaders, Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Indian National Congress. She said that TMC will have to win from all the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state to oust the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

However, Banerjee said that she would support the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. She decided to not field any candidate in the UP elections as an ‘expression of solidarity’ towards SP and its chief Akhilesh Yadav. She said, “TMC will contest from UP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.”
Reportedly, Banerjee will conduct virtual campaigns along with SP president Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow and Varanasi. Reportedly, UP will go to the polls in seven phases, beginning 10 February 2022. Yadav will contest the elections from the Karhal constituency in the Mainpuri district of UP. The first phase of the election will begin from the western part of the UP. SP and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) claimed that people don’t want the BJP in UP.
Banerjee also criticized the Union Budget 2022. She said, “The budget had nothing for common people. The BJP wants diamonds while people need rice, lentils, and vegetables.”
