Bakrid Bank Holiday: Will Banks Be Closed for Bakrid on June 7, 2025?

Many banks across India will be closed on Saturday, June 7, 2025, for Bakrid, the second major Islamic festival, which will be observed in states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, according to the holiday schedule set by the Reserve Bank of India. It should not be confused with Bakrid being on a working day (a Saturday), but banks have declared Saturday a holiday because of Bakrid. In some parts of the country, the holiday will be on a different day. For example, some areas of Assam will have June 9 memorialized, but some states including Andhra Pradesh and Goa still open on June 7, and later this month when that festival is celebrated in those markets would be the holiday. Some branches may close, however, other channels of banking will continue to operate, such as mobile banking apps, internet banking, and ATM transactions.

To ease any uncertainty, consumers should contact their bank branch and/or refer to the RBI holiday list to clarify specifics on holidays in their area and encourage them to visit the bank only on operating days. In addition to scheduling considerations, it may be relevant for consumers to note that some holidays may not align with existing holidays as clarifiers for corresponding services offered.
