Withdrawal of Cases, Compensation & MSP: Farmers meet today to decide on Government’s proposal
Punjab -Farmer leaders said that they will meet again at 2 PM today to discuss various issues such as compensation and MSP (Minimum Support Price). As no decision has been taken yet on calling off the farmers’ ongoing protest, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) members will decide on the government’s proposal again.
Earlier, the farmers met on Tuesday and demanded clarification on certain points in the government’s proposal. Farmers are also demanding the withdrawal of all the cases against farmers. According to a report by News18, on the issue of MSP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to form a committee in which representatives of the Centre, state governments, farm unions, and agricultural scientists will be included. The SKM members hope for a positive response from the government on their demand.
Samyukta Kisan Morcha
The SKM had earlier formed a five-member panel to talk with the government on the pending demands of the protesting farmers, including a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price for crops. The SKM is the body that has protested against the controversial three farm laws since 2020. During the winter session of the parliament, recently the parliament approved to repeal the farm laws. The decision was taken after getting approval from both the houses of Parliament. Narendra Modi in November 2021 said that the government decided to repeal the three farm laws. One year-long protest is now in the huddle as the central government agreed to repeal the three controversial farm laws.
Farmer leader Kulwant Singh Sandhu

Farmers leader also said that on the issue of compensation to kin of farmers who died during the agitation, Punjab has already announced its approval.
