Oscar imposed a 10-year ban on Will Smith after the slap incident that took the world by shock. He has accepted the decision of the Academy Awards to not attend the event for the next 10 years.
The event carried by the Motion Pictures and Arts not only banned him from attending Oscars but also any other event organized by the Academy Awards after he slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards.
Responding to the ban, Will Smith said, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.” However, the actor will continue to keep the best actor award with him that he won after the slap incident and he will also continue to be nominated for or even win in the 10-year ban period.

The ban essentially means that he will not be presenting the Best Actress award at next year’s Oscars which is a tradition for the en itself. Will won his first even Oscars for best actor in leading role for his movie King Richard.
As per the statement given by the Academy Awards, “This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers, and our Academy family around the world, and we fell short — unprepared for the unprecedented.” They also said that this Oscar was meant to mark a celebrato=n of the many individuals who were involved in the community with their amazing work. These moments were overshadowed by this act by Smith which is totally unacceptable.
