Roshni, who is chairperson of HCL Technologies, is India’s third richest after she acquired a 47 percent stake by way of a planned succession from father Shiv Nadar. This transfer now makes her the largest shareholder in HCL Corp, Vama Delhi, HCL Infosystems, and HCLTech.
With the shift, she now ranks behind

on Bloomberg’s Billionaires list. Besides, it confers on her voting rights over significant HCL assets.
She graduated from Northwestern University and got her MBA from Kellogg. Roshni took over as chairperson of HCLTech in 2020. She is also involved in the Shiv Nadar Foundation and The Habitats Trust, along with corporate responsibility, which is largely focused on education and environmental conservation.

According to the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List 2025, Shiv Nadar has a net worth of $34.4 billion, making him the 52nd richest person in the world. Following the stake transfer, Roshni Nadar Malhotra will be ranked as the third richest person in India, overtaking the Jindal family, ranked fourth with a net worth of $35.4 billion.
Share Transfer and Regulatory Approval Made Easy
To facilitate a seamless transition, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) granted an exemption to Malhotra from making an open offer for the share transfer to proceed undisturbed. A filing stated a gift deed dated March 6, 2025, that enabled two transfers of Shiv Nadar’s 47% shareholding in both Vama Delhi and HCL Corporation to his daughter.
