What Led to the Firing of 185 Telugu Employees at Apple?
About 185 workers at the US based iPhone manufacturer Apple who were reportedly Telugu speaking people lost their job as a result of their participation in a fraudulent grants scheme. According to reports, these workers have planned with certain Telugu organizations in the North American nation to misuse Apple’s grant program.
Apple matched the amount donated by its workers to these Telugu non-profit organizations as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies. Investigations showed that this transaction was not as simple as it appeared. According to reports, this was a sophisticated ploy to deceive Apple. As part of this scheme, money that Telugu employees gave to these non-profit organizations was returned to them after Apple matched their donations.
According to reports, Apple threatened to fire the involved employees or ask them to quit on the grounds of compromised integrity. Approximately 185 Apple employees ranging from senior managers to entry level executives have been impacted by this move.
