TMC Leader Jyotipriya Mallick Arrested: Is Your Ration Being Stolen And Sold?
Jyotipriya Mallick, a senior leader from the Trinamool Congress, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He is an MLA from the Habra area and serves as the Minister for Environment and Forests. The ED took this action after a long 20-hour raid at his home in Kolkata.
Jyotipriya Mallick says he is caught in a political trap. He blames Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition, for his arrest. According to him, as long as the BJP is in power, such events will keep happening.
But the reality is different! The ED is looking into a scam related to ration distribution. They revealed that food meant for the public was stolen and sold in the market. Bakibur Rahman, a businessman, was also arrested earlier for the same reason.
The reaction from political parties is as you would expect. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, criticized the ED’s actions.
She said that Jyotipriya Mallick has health issues and raised concerns for his well-being. She also claimed that the ED is disturbing her ministers and their families without good reason.
On the other side, BJP’s state president Sukanta Majumdar supports the ED’s actions. He said the agency is doing its job of fighting corruption and blamed the Trinamool Congress for the mess.
Last month another TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee was also summoned by the ED. But he tried to escape from it by joining into a meeting & rally in Delhi.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is looking into the scam of ration distribution. Food and essential items that should go to the public through government programs were stolen and sold in the market instead.
This is a big problem because it means people who need help aren’t getting it. The ED believes that Jyotipriya Mallick, a politician, and Bakibur Rahman, a businessman, may be involved in this.
They both have been arrested to find out more. This case is making a lot of news because it’s about corruption and it involves senior TMC leaders.
