The main issue surrounds the Karnataka government as it openly denied permission for Munawar Faruqui to do a show in its capital city Bangalore. Faruqui has been vocal about how these rejections are getting the better of him and he is now mentally drained after witnessing each of his shows getting canceled.
He is not alone in this process as another popular comedian and critic of the government Kunal Kamra has expressed that he too was denied permission by the Karnataka official. This was after a few ring wing members protested against their statements saying that they would breach the peace in the state.
The matter quickly exploded on social media and the Congress leader did not wait for another moment to bring it out as he said that he will be the one hosting a comedy show but there is one condition that they have to agree to.
He said, “Only condition is that the subject of comedy will be Digvijaya Singh. Sanghis (RSS cadre) should not object to this!! Don’t be afraid!! Give the date and time as per your convenience. All your conditions are accepted.”
He also tagged one of the articles about Kamra and his satirical remarks on the government while he posted this statement on Twitter. Kamra quickly responded to this saying that he is ready to get back to him they are assured of life issuance.
All of it was being taken in a very light, fun way but another party spokesperson Ajay Singh Yadav stressed that Digvijay Singh was indeed very serious about it. He said that the Rajya Sabha MP has extended invitations. The spokesperson said that the party believes that every artist should have the freedom to express their views freely.
