The UK Invests Invisible Mask Spray To Kill Covid-19 Virus
According to the University of Cambridge, if you could spray your mask with an anti-viral spray drug, there are chances you can kill the Covid-19 virus in less than an hour. In a new and innovative way of combatting the virus, scientists have found a way that a drug called DioX can actually kill the virus in less than an hour.
With the use of the invisible shielding over your masks, you are looking a sure shot safety strategy that will kill not only the Covid-19 virus but also its variants that are different in the UK and distinct in South Africa.
The mechanism is simple- rupture the outer membrane of the virus and destroy it. According to Dr. Graham Christie, senior lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge, “like other parts of the virus, the membrane remains the same regardless of any type of mutation. Hence, this way of attacking the pathogen will work on any new variant of coronavirus.”
In fact, even if the whole genome was to be mutated, it has no effect on the outer membrane. Once the outer membrane is ruptured, the virus cannot survive on its own.
The invisible shielding liquid has been designed based on quaternary ammonium salts – organic compounds widely used in the textile industry for their antimicrobial properties. Laboratory tests have proven that the mask coated with it can kill 95 percent of pathogens on its surface within one hour. Even after four hours, they remained undetectable.
Mutation in the virus has been possible due to a change in protein input. But the invisible shield is working even if there is any change in protein input. The company that has developed the Diox D4 has been working on creating such protective gear for years. It has helped combat mold
DioX D4 claims to offer a patented technology for inhibiting the growth of a wide array of bacteria, mold, mildew, algae, fungi, and yeast on textile materials. Once sprayed, the mask is good to use after several washes too. As of now, DioX D4 has patented its technology.
