Terror Attack in Pahalgam: Tourists Killed, Nation in Shock

The events of April 22, 2025, turned what would have been a peaceful day in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam into a nightmare. Innocent tourists were attacked by terrorists; 28 people were killed, and over 20 were grievously injured in the firing. Most of the victims were tourists who had come here to bask in the beauty of nature.
How The Attack Took Place:
Around 1:30 PM, groups of armed men mysteriously appeared in army uniforms and opened fire on tourists enjoying the lush green meadow of Baisaran—referred to as ‘mini-Switzerland.’ Rushunately for them, the assailants were said to have asked the people about their religion before shooting them at close range.
Young Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal from Haryana was one of the victims. He had been on his honeymoon with his wife. He received bullet injuries, and his wife was said to be in critical condition.
The Locals Came to Support the Rescue:
Baisaran is a secluded area, and reaching it is not easy. Vehicles cannot drive there; usually, people trek up or ride on ponies. Seemingly, these conditions would have hampered the rescue activities. The heroic local people—their souls must be rewarded—carried the injured on horses and makeshift stretchers. Helicopters were later called in to help evacuate the injured to nearby hospitals. According to doctors, about 12 people are now out of danger.
Leaders react to the tragedy:
As soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned from his foreign trip, he called for an emergency meeting. Discussions were held with senior officials, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. PM Modi condemned the attack and said, “The people behind this cruel act will not be spared.”.
