Tata Steel To Make Flight-Like Seats For Vande Bharat Trains

Debashish Bhattacharjee, vice president of technology and new material business at Tata Steel, revealed this information during a chat with the media.
He claimed the company’s composite division has been given the task of providing seating for 22 Vande Bharat Express trains. This order is worth approximately Rs 145 crore.
What Is So Special About The Seats In Vande Bharat Trains?
According to Bhattacharya, these are custom-made seats. They have amenities like airplane chairs and can spin up to 180 degrees.
The supply of this particular train seat is unique in India. Beginning in September, these seats will be distributed, with a 12-month delivery period.
These Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) seats were created especially for Vande Bharat trains.
The cost of upkeep will also be relatively low, according to officials. In addition to being practical, it will improve the safety of the passengers.
Tata Steel To Invest ₹3,000 Crore For R&D
According to Bhattacharya, Tata Steel intends to spend ₹3,000 crore on R&D initiatives by 2025–2026. By 2030, Tata Steel hopes to be among the top 5 steel producers worldwide.
The business is giving research and development a lot of attention in order to accomplish this goal.

He stated that a Dutch company will serve as the technical collaborator while Tata Steel establishes a new plant in Maharashtra’s Khopoli to produce sandwich panels.
