Mahindra Thar Used in Attempted Murder of Noida Police Officers, 3-Arrested
Police have arrested three men who allegedly tried to run over two Noida policemen with their SUV. The incident took place near the Morna police outpost on June 8. The SUV, a Mahindra Thar, has also been impounded by the police.
The arrested individuals are Nitesh Gupta (22), Tushar Kalra (20), and Naveen Awana (21). Gupta and Kalra reside in Sector 41, while Awana lives in Sector 108 of the city.
According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred when a police sub-inspector and a head constable were standing near the police post. The three men in the SUV approached them and asked for directions. When the policemen said they didn’t know the way, the men started cursing and then hit them with the car, injuring both officers before fleeing the scene.

A case was filed at Sector 49 police station on Friday following the attack. The men have been charged with attempt to murder and intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace under sections 307 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). If convicted under section 307, they could face life imprisonment or up to 10 years in prison, along with a fine.
The police have stated that further legal proceedings are underway.
