Sushmita Sen Portrays Activist Relentless Fight For Third Gender Rights In Taali
Sushmita Sen stars as transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant in the upcoming JioCinema web series “Taali“.
The series sheds light on Shreegauri’s determined struggle for recognition of the third gender in India and her journey toward motherhood. The trailer was released on Monday with a glimpse into the show’s narrative.
The trailer opens with Sushmita as Shreegauri, wearing a sari and adjusting a prominent bindi in front of a mirror.
The story then introduces Ganesh, Shreegauri’s birth name, who faces ridicule at school for aspiring to become a mother as an adult.
The trailer showcases Ganesh’s journey, from applying a bindi and trying on a sari to transforming into Gauri, an adult who is embraced by the transgender community.
Gauri’s activism includes participating in Supreme Court proceedings and engaging in TV debates to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the transgender community.
Sushmita Sen shared the trailer on Instagram, expressing her excitement about the series and Shreegauri’s inspiring story. The web series is set to stream on JioCinema starting from August 15.
“Taali,” created by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar, is produced by GSEAMS Production in collaboration with Afeefa Nadiadwala. Award-winning director Ravi Jadhav directs the series, with the script penned by Kshitij Patwardhan.
