Stadium to be named after gold medalist Neeraj Chopra in Pune
There is a high possibility that a stadium in Pune will be named after Tokyo Olympics 2020 gold medalist Neeraj Chopra who has now made his name known to every household in India with his heroic stint at the event.
Neeraj Chopra has fulfilled the wish of crores of Indians who were longing for a gold medal at the Olympic games. India managed to stand in the middle of the podium as the Javelin thrower hit the mark of 87.58, which is also his personal best.
Ever since he returned, the athlete has been showered with many accommodations and rewards and the recent one is a stadium being named after him in Pune. As per the Defense PRO official release, the stadium which is inside Pune’s Army Sports Institute might be named after him.

For this purpose, Defense minister Rajnath SIngh will be visiting Pune’s Defense Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) and Army SPorts Institute on August 23. The stadium will be named as ‘Neeraj Chopra Army Sports Institute, Pune Cantonment’, said an official from the Defense PRO.
The minister will be facilitating 16 Olympians during his visit to ASI while also acknowledging the bravery of the troops and their training at the premier facility. He will also be interacting with MTech and PhD students and also inaugurate a new building in the campus.
All the medal winners received huge applause as soon as they landed. Other medal winners include weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya, who won a silver at the mega event and PV Sindhu, the men’s hockey team, boxer Lovlina Borgohain and wrestler Bajrang Punia, who won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
