Taapsee Pannu is in the role of Mithali Raj in her biopic film – ‘Shabaash Mithu’. The story reveals the struggle of the Indian Women Cricket Team.
There was a time when men’s cricket was getting name, fame & money everywhere, even the government supported them a lot.
On the other hand, women cricket players were being completely ignored. Despite the lots of hardships and deprivation, Women Cricket Players have achieved immense success.
These incidents are presented in the film Shabaash Mithu very well. We get to see the life journey of the former Captain of Women Cricket Team – Mithali Raj in this movie. Her role is portrayed by Tapasee Pannu.
In Shabaash Mithu, though, the same thing took place. However, the most crucial issue is to depict that World Cup in the movie, as it was the catalyst for the women’s cricket team’s transformation. Not just Mithali Raj but also the women’s cricket team gained popularity.
But the film was made with the same fervor and enthusiasm that Mithali Raj used to achieve her dream of playing cricket and advancing the Woman in Blue.
Plot & Storyline of ‘Shabaash Mithu’
The movie starts with Mithali Raj’s early years. How she makes friends with a girl who coaches her in cricket and plays like a boy.
The game of cricket is started covertly. Coach Sampat (Vijay Raj) spots Mithali Raj playing hide & seek and goes to her house to tell her what fantastic things she may accomplish in the future.
The phase of training starts. Mithali puts in a lot of effort and is ultimately chosen for the national team.
She faces a new challenge in this situation. At one point, Mithali gives up and goes back to her house. In due course, Mithali assumes leadership of Team India, leading them to the World Cup final.
Pros: Plus Points of ‘Shabaash Mithu’
It is wonderful to see little Mithali and the entire scope of Milati Raj’s youth. The coach and his disciple’s bond is effectively demonstrated. both soft and harsh places.
Taapsee Pannu’s fervor and enthusiasm are evident. Taapsee Pannu’s character Mithali is shown playing competent cricket.
How did the women’s cricket squad fare? The movie effectively illustrates all of this. These girls don’t even have a manager with them when they embark on their England tour, so how do they manage it? They had to use local transportation.

The entire team is humiliated when Mithali knocks on the association’s door while struggling with the fundamentals.
The shouts of “Women in Blue” as Team India arrives at the airport will also continue to make you happy. When it comes to the music, the beginning’s introductory track will be pleasing.
Cons: Negative Points of ‘Shabaash Mithu’
The movie’s worst flaw is how quickly it moves. You’ll have this feeling of the movie having stopped and not moving repeatedly.
The fact that the World Cup is depicted in the movie despite the fact that you did not put much effort into it is the second largest mistake that filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee committed.
The whole Cricket World Cup has been cut out of the original footage by fast-forwarding to the very conclusion, at which point the movie is finished. Taapsee Pannu appears on the screen in the interim using chrome.
Although this movie is a biography, cricket is where it all began. A cricket-related movie won’t be well received at all in India, where the cricketer enjoys greater popularity than the national sport.
Speaking of the music, Amit Trivedi’s music is undoubtedly present in the movie, yet he expresses disappointment in this particular scene. Before the World Cup begins, Taapsee addresses the team in the movie without making any attempt.
Should You Watch ‘Shabaash Mithu’ Or Not?
In conclusion, you can watch the movie through the first half or longer. But after that, the movie can’t impress the audience much.
A good story might have been told in a more effective manner. Mithali Raj deserves a better biopic than this!
