Sehwag Questions selectors decision to Keep Yuzvendra Chahal out of the T20 squad
UAE – Former Indian opener Virendra Sehwag has raised eyebrows on the exclusion of bowler Yuzevendra Chahal from the T20 squad. The explosive batsman has questioned the selection committee about their decision to leave him out.
This was after the bowler led Royal Challengers Bangalore’s win against the Mumbai Indians on Monday as he was visibly in control of his bowling and showed fine spells in the match. He managed to pick three wickets by giving merely 11 runs.
Post-match, Sehwag was on a show for an online platform called Cricbuzz where he said that he could not understand why the selectors did not pick Chahal in the squad for the world cup.
He further added that Chahal has been consistent since the Sri Lanka series. He was not doing anything different and was well aware of how to bowl in such a format.

“I could never understand why he was not selected. Some sort of a reason should be given, whether he is out of form or if there seems to be someone who is better and bowls extraordinarily,” he added.
Sehwag went on to explain that even Rahul Chahar was not bowling anything extraordinary even in Sri Lanka so he could not understand the decision of the selectors. “He can walk straight into the team,” he said.
As per cricket experts, there were a lot of questionable decisions ahead of the T20 world cup. One of the major decisions was to bring back Ravichandran Ashwin while leaving out Chahal. The selectors went for five spinners this time. The T20 world cup will start from October 17 this year and is scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Till October 10, however, the teams have the right to make changes in the provisional squad.
